How We Research
Every guide on Chez Meow Meow starts with one question: will this feeder or camera do its job while you're not home? That means meals that drop on time, a camera that stays online and no surprise fees after setup.
Here is how we answer it.
1. We start with your pet and your schedule
One cat on a workday, two dogs over a weekend and a mixed home with a cat on a diet each need something different.
We look at how many pets you have, their size, the food they eat and how long you're usually away. When those details narrow the choice, we say so.
2. We compare specs and features
For feeders, we check hopper size, portion settings, meals per day, bowl material, kibble size limits, backup power and whether the app needs Wi-Fi to keep the schedule.
For cameras, we check video quality, night vision, field of view, two-way audio, treat tossing, local storage and which features need a paid plan.
PETLIBRO, Furbo, Petcube and other makers describe their products in their own words, so we name the brand for every claim. We also note the warranty terms each maker lists.
3. We look at owner feedback
We read what owners report after weeks and months of use. We look for patterns, like kibble jams, lids pets can pry open, apps that drop the connection and cameras that go offline.
One bad review doesn't sink a product. A pattern does.
4. We score each product
Our score weighs specs, features and buyer feedback against what you're shopping for. A feeder that suits one cat may score lower in a guide for three.
Scores spread out on purpose. A 10 is rare.
5. We keep pages current
Products change, and some leave the store. Some cameras are sold in two versions, one that works on its own and one that needs a paid plan, so we check every listing and link only new units.
We skip unknown brands with no track record and any product with a known recall. When we update a guide, the "Updated on" date at the top changes with it.
What our picks are not
Our picks are research, not lab tests. We don't claim to have used every product we cover.
A feeder keeps a schedule, but it can't tell you if your pet is unwell. We give no feeding amounts or health advice, so follow your vet's guidance and the maker's manual, and have someone check on your pets during longer trips.
